How do we assist our patients with their healing? Recent research suggests that some of our cherished interventions in the cognitive and behavioral realms are just too superficial to produce lasting change, while others - such as some psychoanalytical models - get lost in the depths of implicit memory and the uncoded unconscious. How can current findings from the new brain science help us?
At this conference we will be exploring models as diverse as Brainspotting, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Psychopharmacology and Shamanic Journeying, as we ask: how we can most effectively and profoundly meet our patients in the pivotal regions of the psyche where they most are capable of initiating change, integration, growth & healing?One of the tenets of many psychotherapy paradigms is the awareness that we heal within social, cultural and interpersonal relationships.
